Samo M. Strelec, theatre director, one of the key initiators of re-professionalisation of Ptuj City Theatre and its first artistic director, whose programme delineated the theatre’s basic orientation which the theatre follows to the present day; artistic director of Slovene National Theatre Drama Maribor in the period from 2001 to 2006, when the theatre’s credibility was restored; co-founder and co-author of the  Slovene theatre portal www.sigledal.org; lecturer in directing and realisation at the programme Media Communications at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of University of Maribor. On April 15 2008 Strelec establishes the Institute Novi ZATO. (with a full stop!).

Institute Novi ZATO. is active in the area of performing arts, including theatre production, education, research, and preservation of theatrical heritage.

The focal point of Novi ZATO.’s aesthetic paradigm is artistic expression of Samo M. Strelec, although his individual projects include both the already well-acclaimed and internationally renowned artists as well as those who are just entering the world of professional theatre, their common ground being a disposition to take an engaged attitude toward the artistic will of Samo M. Strelec.

The Archimedean point of the theatre Novi ZATO. is the actor. With director's assistance, the actor recycles each and every text into the most genuine, intimate, and topical actuality.

Institute Novi ZATO. manages the web portal for performing arts www.sigledal.org, which provides free access to the interested theatre publics to daily updated online contents and services, intended to dissemination of information, research, and education in the area of the current Slovene performing arts scene as well as to archiving, preservation, and assurance of online accessibility to Slovene theatre heritage and its digitalised artefacts.
